We now have our dates confirmed with FC for our winter timing days at Wooler Common. These will be Sunday 5th Jan (2013 & 2014 membership) and Sunday 2nd Feb (2014 membership)…….fair weather riders need not apply ; )
We had a great mornings ride at Thrunton woods for our club end of season xc outing on Saturday around 25 of us took to the trails, then back to Rothbury for soup, sandwiches and a pint. Maybe its something we can look at doing every couple of months throughout the year.
What a great way to end the season at last weekends (19-20th) NDH races. In the Northern Champs downhill on the Saturday CHR riders came away with 5 podiums!! Alan Turnbull 3rd in Vets, Steven Turnbull 3rd in Experts, Dan Butterfield 2nd in Youths, and then 2 Northern Champs – Joe Mallen 1st in Junior and James Purvis taking first in Youth along with fastest time of the day!.
Then on Sundays Enduro this was followed up with Michael Strangeways 2nd in Vets, James Knowles 2nd in Senior and again James Purvis 1st in Youth and fastest time of the day
With all the major race series now finished we are having our end of season ride at Thrunton Woods on Sat 2nd Nov meeting at 10am in main car park then afterwards back to Newcastle House in Rothbury for soup n sandwiches, we have to have numbers in for food the week previous so give us a shout if you want to come along.
If your a club member and on Strava why not join the CHR strava group (members only) it has a weekly leaderboard and various stats you can compare with other members and see who is getting the most training in for next season or just plain getting out on their bike loads, your rides will also show on the panel at LH side of the website……..group page HERE
Good luck to all the CHR members competing at the NDH Northern Champs DH this Saturday and also the NDH 3 stage enduro on Sunday at Kidland/Alwinton………….after all the rain fingers crossed its not a shitfest!!!
Looks like its gonna be a full season next year with the UK Gravity Series and also the newly announced Scottish and Northern series with little or no date clashes there should be some cracking riding/racing to be had all over the UK!!
Its the off season but there is still the odd race on for the ‘non’ fair weather riders, a good number of club members have already entered the St Andrews Day/Night enduro at Innerleithen on Sat 30th Nov. This is usually a pretty physical day with racing on downhill xc routes, 2 stages, ride both in the daylight n both in the dark then all 4 times added together, transitions are not timed so its a good day out with your mates…..get your entries in HERE
Great results for some of the younger club members competing at Innerleithen today, Joe and James sharing the fastest time of the day as well : ) Results can be found HERE
Superb days riding at Wooler today, the times can be found on the forum and thanks to Adam Bell for the edit :-
