Quarry - Pump track - 4x etc

Postby Max Jaffa CHR » Sun Mar 15, 2009 8:42 pm

Now its getting a bit lighter at nights and with clocks due to change in next few weeks, I think its time to start using the quarry again.......but first it needs a tidy up.

I will be going up there on the odd Sat or Sun afternoon in the next few weeks to do an hour or so's maintenance followed by a play on the pump track etc.

I will post when I am heading up on here in case anyone fancies coming along.

The idea being that when its all tidied up to have Sun evening pump track comps (when we are not away racing!) to see who can get the most laps, fastest lap etc........just for a bit laugh.
"Free" your mind * ; )

I had a wonder up on Saturday to see how it was and was gutted to see how overgrown and damaged the whole site is.
I know its hard to get people to do any trail work and perhaps i am flogging a dead horse here but man it would be great if yaz could organize a couple of weekends dedicated to a clean up and repair, i would even come over to lend a hand if something was organized.
There aren't many areas in the country where these places are built and i feel if something ain't done ya may lose this site to a council injunction for health and safety reasons az i have seen elsewhere and the lot be flattened.
So come on guys and girls show the man some support! If we can get 22 folk turn up for a practice DH one weekend imagine what work could be done with the same amount of people helping fix the venue and keep on top of the repairs.
I don't mean to sound crapy about it, or step on peoples toes as i know its probably playing on some peoples minds more than others but its places like this that are essential for young un's to learn bike handling skills on as well as sharpening your own skills as some of you probably learned on there too over the years, who knows the next Peat, Athertons or Fairclough could be cutting his teeth up there in the future.
Hope ya get some support to help keep on top of things as yaz have a really good scene up there and safeguarding the trails you have will make sure the scene will have a healthy future in the area.
Not a criticism just a rally call to the troops.
Scratchmere Scar uplifts running most weekends, £20 for as many as 10 to 15 runs on 3 DH tracks.
